The National Lottery in the United Kingdom has reached a staggering £28.5m, and remains unwon. Last Saturday, the jackpot reached a massive £26.3m million, and nobody could hold the winning ticket. These kinds of figures are often only seen with Euro Millions jackpots, so the chance to win this amount in pounds sterling is causing lotto fever in the UK.
Alongside the massive prize, there is also one guaranteed millionaire, and 20 raffle winners, who will each pocket £20,000. With no winners being announced last Saturday, the next confirmed draw for the National Lottery is Wednesday December 16.
Tickets are selling at an incredible rate for this draw, with everybody keen to get in on the action to try and make their Christmas a lot more comfortable. Tickets cost just £2 a line, and can be bought by choosing your own numbers, or opting for a Lucky Dip (a machine randomly picks your numbers).
On Saturday there may not have been any big winners, but 1,397,644 people managed to match at least 2 numbers, and win a free Lotto Lucky Dip prize, most of which will be claiming theirs for use on tomorrow’s lottery. Players must be registered in the United Kingdom or the Isle of Man in order to participate in the lottery this week, which is thought to be worth around €39.2m.
Very few National Lottery prizes have ever risen to be worth quite as much in the history of the UK lottery game, and as we’ve said, those kinds of figures are often reserved for the Euro Millions. As a result, many people have stopped buying National Lottery tickets, and started playing the continental game instead. However, with the jackpot now worth just shy of thirty million sterling, you can expect a large turn out this week, doubly so this weekend if nobody bags the top prize on Wednesday.
