Russia’s Gosloto literally translates into English as the State Lottery. Also known as the 6/45, this Russian lottery game is the number on lottery in the Russian Federation. It is also one of the only lottery games which is played 7 days a week, and has been since it was first introduced to Russian gamblers, back in late 2008.
The very first Gosloto game actually began in 2003, with the first draw taking place two years later. This new and most popular lottery game would not be released until a few years later, though. Revenues from this lottery are spent on sporting events, and infrastructure, whilst the lottery is privately run by Sandor Demjan, and sponsored by the Russian government. This lotto has a slogan which translates as “dreams can come true”.
How to play the Gosloto
The Gosloto is played using 45 balls, as its 6/45 title suggests. Naturally, this means that players are inclined to select a total of 6 numbers from those available. In the daily draws, a total of 6 numbers are drawn, to form the winning numbers. If you don’t win, don’t worry. Another draw takes place the following night, and the night after that, and so on and so forth. Every draw takes place at 4pm GMT, or 8pm local time.
Prizes
The Gosloto contains a total of 5 prize divisions. Players who only manage to land 2 balls, will win approximately 50 roubles. That prize will triple to over 180 roubles for matching 3 numbers. If a player can land 4 out of 6 numbers, then they will pocket winnings of just shy of 2,000 roubles. Matching 5 correct numbers will see players win a far larger prize, of over 225,000 roubles. The top prize in the Gosloto 6/49 is fairly large, and is only awarded to players who land all 6 numbers on their ticket.
Lotto Atlas recommends playing Russia’s Gosloto on The Lotter
The Gosloto is a fairly ambitious lottery game, and one which Lotto Atlas would recommend you play on The Lotter. The Lotter can allow you to purchase tickets to the Gosloto, even if you don’t reside within Russia.
Players have a number of different options when it comes to purchasing tickets, and The Lotter will charge you only slightly more than an actual ticket, due to a small handling charge. What you win is yours to keep, though. You know, aside from the 13% tax-rate on winnings.
And finally…
The Gosloto only normally sells around 500,000 tickets per draw, so you actually have a pretty decent chance of success. Tickets are moderately cheap, and players can win a starting prize of 10 million roubles ($150,000). In the past, the top jackpot has been 203 million roubles (roughly $3 million). So, although it has small prizes, you’ve got decent odds in this Russian lottery game. All prizes (via The Lotter, or otherwise), must be claimed within 180 days of your win, when playing the Gosloto 6/45.
