The Quina lottery is one of Brazil’s most regularly occurring lotto games. Given that it is played six times per week, how could it not be? This Brazilian lottery has so many draws that it is almost certain that you are going to pocket a win sooner or later.
As well as the main drawings, there is also an annual special draw, once per summer. Known as the Quina de Sao Joao Super Draw, this particular draw comes with an astronomical jackpot, to celebrate the Festival of Sao Joao with.
The Quina itself began in 1994, by the Caxia Company, who also runs most of Brazil’s other major lottery events. Prior to the invention of this lotto, most of Brazil’s lotteries were played more like bingo, although this revolutionary lottery allowed players to pick their own numbers. There are a lot of numbers to choose from in this lotto, but that hasn’t stopped players having a crack at winning. In fact, one of the biggest wins ever was the equivalent of $5.7 million, which was recorded in 2010.
How to play the Quina
The Quina lottery is played by picking 5 numbers from a total of 80. That is a rather sizeable number of lottery balls to choose from, but remember, you do get a total of six drawings a week. No bonus balls are drawn in the lottery, so players are going to be relying on their skill (or luck, as it happens), to correctly predict all 5 winning numbers.
Prizes
You don’t necessarily have to have all 5 winning numbers to win a prize in the Quina lottery. Players can pick up wins with just three correctly predicted balls. This would see them win a prize worth a total of R$127, or thereabouts.
Should a player manage to land 4 balls, then they would win a secondary prize, worth a total of around about R$5,220. The prize for guessing all 5 balls correctly is rightfully the biggest one, and this can vary, although it starts at R$400,000.
All prizes in the lottery are taxed at 13.80% in Brazil, and players have a total of 90 days to claim their winnings.
Lotto Atlas recommends playing the Quina on The Lotter
You needn’t worry if you don’t live in Brazil, or if you are an expat living abroad. Lotto Atlas recommends that you try playing the Quina with The Lotter website. This lottery website will allow you to purchase tickets to the lotto online, and win anywhere.
When you purchase tickets to the lottery online with The Lotter, you can buy either 5-line entries, or systematic tickets. You can also opt for pre-selected numbers or Quick Pick (random) numbers, depending on your preference. The Lotter will email you copies of your tickets, once you have made your purchase.
And finally…
Because of the number of draws that the Quina has per week, the lottery is a very enticing prospect to Brazilians and non-Brazilians alike. It is true that you must pocket at least three numbers in order to land a big win, but with that many draws, you shouldn’t worry too much about that. The prizes in the lottery are also quite generous, especially for what amounts to one of Brazil’s smaller lottery games.
