One lucky player has scooped a top prize worth $225,000 in a Philadelphia lottery. The Pennsylvania Lottery Cash 5 ticket is believed to be worth the vast sum, and was sold at a Dollar Plus in the city on Wednesday last week.
The winner correctly predicted the five balls which would be drawn, and scooped the winnings (minus 25% withheld federally) for the numbers 6, 8, 13, 17, and 27. The lucky owner of the Dollar Plus will also pocket $500 for selling the winning ticket.
In total, over 35,000 prizes were paid out in this draw alone, although there was only one big winner last week. The Pennsylvania Lottery Cash 5 lotto paid out just shy of $300 million last year to players, whilst it also coughed up over $225 million to elderly person programs in the state.
The Cash 5 Match lotto costs a dollar to play and players can select 5 numbers from 1 to 43. The chances of landing the big jackpot in this loo is roughly 1 in 962,598, although there is a 1 in 10.5 chance of landing any sort of cash prize.
Further north in Canada, there was no winning ticket in Friday night’s $43 million Lotto Max jackpot game. As a result of nobody winning, the next top prize will be valued at around $50 million in all, whilst four Max Millions prizes of $1 million a pop will also be available. The last time this jackpot was on was in the beginning of November, when two players shared a $60 million pot. Those winners came from both Edmonton, and Newfoundland and Labrador.
Several other major jackpots are currently enduing a roll-over phase, which makes them all the more excitng as Christmas nears and people would love to have a surplus of money at their disposal
