One day you’re working as a mechanic. The next day, you’re sitting more than comfortably, with £108 million in the bank as the result of a lottery win. We call these tales, rags to riches. Over the years there have been many people who’ve gone from zero to hero, so it could easily be you who lands the next big jackpot win. Let’s take a look at the case of Neil Trotter, who in spring last year, scooped the aforementioned Euro Millions jackpot, to become the fourth biggest lottery winner in the United Kingdom.
Del Boy wins the big one
Sharing the name of one of TV’s most iconic characters is one thing. Using some of his words when speaking to your father before the draw, is something else. “This time tomorrow”, is exactly what Neil Trotter sad to his father, right before he landed the Euro Millions jackpot on Friday, March 14 2014. Apparently, Mr Trotter was confident he would win something, as many lottery claims to be.
Solid winnings
What Mr Trotter had in fact won, was a massive £107.9 million jackpot, which automatically sent the 41-year-old to fourth place in the list of the biggest ever UK lottery winners. Neil Trotter ran a repair garage in South London, then on that Friday night he turned as white as a sheet as his numbers came up. He even asked his girlfriend Nicky Ottaway to check the numbers for him. What he had won was astonishing. Suffice to say, they couldn’t sleep.
Calling Camelot and splashing cash
The next morning, Neil Trotter have Camelot a call, and they instantly arranged to check out the ticket, and sort out the prize. Almost immediately, Mr Trotter knew what he wanted to do with the cash. He instantly retired, and decided to follow the British Touring Car Championship. Naturally, he upgraded his Ford Focus to a fleet (yes, a fleet) of supercars. A new home, was also on Mr Trotter’s list of purchases. With £108 million in the kitty, he could afford to spend a bit.
The numbers he played
Some people are very superstitious about numbers, so perhaps you’d like to know what numbers Mr Trotter played? For the sake of argument, they were 6, 24, 25, 27 and 30, with the Lucky Star numbers of 5 and 9. Many lottery players choose their own numbers, and in many cases, this is what they put their success down to.
It could be you
Mr Trotter isn’t the only lucky player in the United Kingdom, and his victory won’t be the only one. He doesn’t even hold the record for the bigger ever win. Just remember, you could be the very next multi-millionaire. There are several major lottery games with prizes often in excess of £100 million. Pick your numbers, head down to your local shop (or play online), and have a stab at it. Who knows, it could be your dreams which come true the next time a major lottery draw is held.
