One lucky Irish lottery winner took things a bit too far when she blasted herself in the face with champagne, after winning the lottery. As a member of a syndicate called The Chosen Few, champagne flew as the winners scooped at €3.8m prize. In full view of the RTÉ Six One cameras, the woman rather embarrassingly splashed herself in the face, to the laughter of the remaining members of the syndicate.
Following the incident, the television cameras instantly cut away from the shop of the woman, rather unsurprisingly. The syndicate is formed of members of Kerry’s Group’s Charleville facility, and their win on the National Lottery has been hyped up quite a lot over the last few days.
It was only after popping into work on Monday and checking their numbers that they had discovered their win. The syndicate had been together for a total of 12 years, and some may have given up hope that they would ever win. Win they have, though, and now each can enjoy spending a total of €388,000 a pop. They purchased their winning tickets in O’Grady’s Spar shop in Ballingarry, County Limerick. The nine men and one woman will likely continue to work and remain part of the syndicate.
The video of the celebration – in particular the champagne soaked woman – has already done the rounds on the internet, and in some circles, it has actually gone viral. The Chosen Few have become instant celebrities in their town, and on the net alike. You can find the video on YouTube, as well as other viral video and image websites across the net.
Still – as embarrassed as she may be – she certainly won’t care too much with a couple of hundred thousand Euros in her back pocket, that’s for certain.
