Whenever anybody wins the lottery, people will always ask “how did you pick the winning numbers?” Some people say that they just came to them in a dream, and others will say that they played special numbers that meant something to them. Some winners just get lucky with their numbers. But how should you pick your lottery numbers? In this guide, we’ll take a look at some of the more common ways to pick your lottery numbers on a week in, week out basis.
Play the birthdays
By and large, most people who pick their own lottery numbers, play birthdays. You must know quite a few people, and have more than enough family members to choose from? How do you decide which family members birthday’s will form your own winning lottery numbers? Most people choose their children and partner’s birthdays, but it’s up to you, really.
Numbers of meaning
When they aren’t playing birthdays, many lottery winners just pick numbers that are significant to them. Phone numbers, house numbers, favourite football player numbers, and anniversaries. The list of potential number combinations is endless, as is the basis for choosing numbers. Everybody has favourite numbers and not-so-favourite ones. Just pick your favourites, for whatever reason.
Lucky dips and quick picks
Alternatively, you could just leave it all up to chance. That’s what millions of lottery players do. They simply ask the machines in lottery ticket shops to do the work for them. When asking for a “quick pick” or a “lucky dip”, the attendant will tell the machine to pick random lottery numbers for you, and they will form your numbers. Don’t feel too dismayed, thousands of people have won this way.
Completely random
You could, of course, decide to randomise the numbers for yourself. Some lottery players write down all of the lottery numbers on a piece of paper, and then pick their numbers out of a bag. Others do so digitally over the internet, with random number generators. It doesn’t really matter how you do it, but if you don’t want to leave it to a machine, you could pick random lottery numbers yourself, you know.
A word of warning
One word of warning, though. Don’t ever pick lottery numbers which you intend to play every week, and then decide to skip a week, or change numbers. Nothing may happen when you do this, but you could end up kicking yourself (or worse) if your “former numbers” came up after you had changed them. If you are going to be playing the same numbers week in, week out, then for heaven’s sake, make sure you stick to them.
Imagine, if you can. You have decided to change your numbers, because for 10 years, all you’d ever won was a measly tenner. Then the first week you change them – boom – those old numbers come up and you could have won £10 million. You’d be as sick as a parrot. To be on the safe side, don’t change your numbers once you have them!
