Two players from Europe have shared over £7.5m in jackpots, following their respective wins on national lottery draws.
Over in Limerick, Ireland, Mr Donal O’Grady managed to scoop a cool €4 million playing the Irish Lotto. The jackpot prize was paid out after Mr O’Grady bought his ticket in a shop in Ballingarry.
The manager of O’Grady’s Spar and Topaz, he is still in a state of shock. The shopkeeper took over the shop from his parents in 2012, and has said that everybody has a lot of fun in checking their tickets, but few imagined that someone local would win.
Meanwhile, in the United Kingdom, one lucky ticket holder managed to scoop Saturday night’s National Lottery jackpot of £4.3 million. Camelot used the Guinevere machine to draw the numbers, and following on from last week’s disappointing events (when no live draw took place), the numbers 2, 23, 39, 54, 55, and 57 were drawn. The bonus ball was declared as number 11.
Almost 50 people won over two grand a pop, whilst there were three and half thousands winners of prizes worth just under £200. The number of three number winners exceeded 87,500, giving them £25 each.
Following the big jackpot won, the Wednesday National Lottery jackpot has been reduced to £2.2 million.
In the case of the Thunderball and Hotpicks games in the UK National Lottery, there were no winners. The £500,000, and £350,000 jackpots remain intact then, with the winning Thunderball numbers being determined as 3, 5, 16, 27, and 29, with the Thunderball being number 8.
